Designed by Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni in 1962, this inventive lamp is a perfect example of their ready-made design philosophy. Originally inspired by a car headlight, it cleverly repurposes fishing rod rings to guide the power cable and a boat cleat to keep it neatly coiled. This playful fusion of industrial materials and ingenuity also inspired its name, a nod to the word toy’. A design icon, Toio has won multiple awards and is part of the permanent collection at MoMA.
