Smithfield Suspension Pro
Designed by Jasper Morrison, 2009
Smithfield Suspension LED version is now available in two color temperatures 2700K and 3000K. Available in 3500K, please inquiry for more details. Part of the Smithfield family, the Smithfield Suspension manages to be both grand and unassuming in Halogen and new LED versions. Providing direct light through its aluminum body, it is well suited for a variety of environments. Available in black, matte black, mud and white. Its diffuser is injection-molded opalescent PC (polycarbonate). The steel ceiling attachment features a steel suspension cable, and the three-pole electric cable is PTFE double insulation. Inspiration behind the design: Jasper Morrison is known for his ability to take the beauty that he sees in the world around him and translate it into his work. To that end, the Smithfield family was named for the Smithfield Market in London, where the artist was inspired by the industrial nature of the fixtures he saw. "I've always liked the industrial and functional character of these lights," he says. "I wanted to make a project out of them, looking for some way of making use of their efficiency in delivering light, and the forms themselves which are so much a part of the good atmosphere of industrial spaces."
