Designed by Achille Castiglioni and Pio Manzù, Parentesi is a modern design classic and a celebration of collaboration. It is named after the parenthesis symbol in reference to the curved metal tube that holds the bulb. Achille Castiglioni developed the design from an original drawing by Pio Manzù, and Parentesi is attributed to both designers despite them never meeting and Manzù dying two years before the lamp came to be. Parentesi won the prestigious Compasso dOro ADI Award in 1979 and is part of the permanent collection at MoMA and other major design museums.
