Designed by Achille Castiglioni in 1998, Diabolo was his final project for Flos and confirmation of his belief in play as an essential design tool. Inspired by the Chinese game, its form is driven by the need to conceal a pulley system, transforming a technical solution into a defining feature. The diffuser slides gently up and down, inviting interaction and personalisation. Through this simple gesture, Diabolo turns everyday lighting into a playful, intuitive experience, reflecting Castiglionis lifelong ability to observe and reinterpret daily life with intelligence and wit.
