Elements of Light
Flos announces the release of Elements of Light, the first brand book ever published in the company’s history. It is conceived both as an inspirational corporate profile and a highly informative tool that confirms Flos as the ultimate destination brand in lighting design.
With this new book, Flos offers a contemporary interpretation of its illustrious heritage and design philosophy, while simultaneously showcasing its unparalleled expertise in delivering the most varied and powerful lighting projects and sharing insight into the formal beauty and functional values of all four product divisions – Decorative, Architectural, Outdoor and Bespoke.
Under the editorial direction of Spencer Bailey, renowned design writer, journalist and co-founder of the media company The Slowdown, and the art direction of visual designer Simone Piermaria, Elements of Light lies somewhere between a coffee table book and a glossy magazine. It features three different types of premium natural paper, cutting-edge graphic design and elegant print, in keeping with the Flos tradition of creative communication products.
The original content includes art photography, highlights from the latest new product releases in all categories and a series of mini-profiles of the brilliant architects who not only design lamps for the brand, but also choose Flos products for their captivating large-scale projects, including Antonio Citterio, Piero Lissoni, Philippe Starck, Patricia Urquiola and Vincent Van Duysen.
The book also features five case histories showing the application of Flos lighting in a variety of settings, and an extensive portfolio of premium projects that Flos has completed around the world. Lastly, it offers additional editorial material consisting of a series of interviews with visionary thinkers from the worlds of architecture, cinema, cooking, and art & culture, which explore the unique perception of light in the minds of such ‘luminaries’.
Roberta Silva, Flos CEO, said: “I am very proud of our new book Elements of Light, an inspirational and powerful tool specifically designed for our business audience of architects, lighting designers, and all the professionals we liaise with to execute our contract projects. This book shows the concrete and consistent presence of our heritage and design philosophy in all our outstanding projects across the world. I hope they will enjoy consulting the book and find it as inspiring as we do.”
