Light and vision at Saint Heron

Photography by Clément Pascal
Founded by Solange Knowles to amplify vital voices across art, design, music, and literature, Saint Heron is both call to community and multidisciplinary platform dedicated to future practitioners, the spiritual act of creation, and the intergenerational language of expression.
Evolving into a cultural and arts institution, studio, and agency, the Saint Heron world encompasses a permanent art and design collection, artist-in-residence programmes, workshops, and a library to foster collaboration, knowledge, and artistic expression.
The latest chapter is a newly imagined studio in Manhattan—both creative sanctuary and living gallery. The studio, with interior design and original pieces designed by Solange for Saint Heron, also showcases striking artworks. Here, where every detail is a thoughtful reflection of intention and purpose, Solange chose three iconic Flos lamps to illuminate the narrative of the space.
Taccia provides a powerful yet understated elegant sculptural presence that resonates with the mood of the studio, atop a custom design executive desk by Solange, contributing to an atmosphere of exploration and reflection.
Meanwhile, Biagio quietly asserts itself, complementing the modular sectional also designed by Solange, as well as the works of other creators as part of a considered dialogue.
Finally, Toio carves out a sanctuary within the larger creative landscape, creating space for stillness and listening, alongside a bespoke chair design by Solange.
Light becomes the ultimate marker of space and mood, thoughtfully designed to enhance the sense of purpose and place within the Saint Heron world. This collaboration explores and manifests the pivotal role of light in shaping narrative, inspiring creation, and developing practice.
