Andrea:
When Piero called us, over six years ago, we went to meet him with quite obscure ideas that weren’t very applicable. After that encounter, Simone and I realized that it still wasn’t the right moment, and we said to ourselves that we must take our time, because light is a material difficult to operate, to manipulate. We wanted to understand what its essence was, so we spent two full years exploring light in every way, from a fire to the latest LED lamp; That was an important exercise for us to be able to approach Flos.
Simone:
We are probably unusual designers; We are fascinated by objects but not necessarily the design, meaning there aren’t many companies that we’d like to work with. But Flos was certainly a good place to start.

The verbal part, the discussion is at the center of our work. The beauty of working in a pair is that the result is an amazing compromise between two trains of thought.

Andrea:
Having spent more than ten years in Holland, we’ve rediscovered our roots a bit more. In Italy, you’re always surrounded by marvelous architecture and incredible displays of the past; We have a bit of this heritage that we just can’t shake off. Coming here has made us look back at our artistic heritage, at our origins – it’s made us rediscover how wonderful it was to come from the places we did.
According to the famous cliché, creativity needs constant stimulus, but living in a world where connections are very quick, both digitally and physically, no one really needs to live in a metropolis anymore. For us, Amsterdam is the ideal place. Although we don’t speak the language, we perceive it as more of a blank canvas, a space where we can concentrate, where we don’t have noise.
