Michael Anastassiades and Flos:
a new chapter
The first three designs from a wider portfolio of works by Michael Anastassiades join the Flos catalogue
Michael Anastassiades’ work stems from a vision of technology, materials and function that is both poetic and rigorous. Nature, modernism, memory and everyday life inspire a timeless formal and structural language shaped by both craftsmanship and industrial production.
A creative partnership spanning more than a decade
Flos and Michael Anastassiades have explored lighting design together since 2011. Their collaboration has given rise to collections that have become landmarks of contemporary lighting design, from String Lights and IC Lights to Captain Flint, Arrangements, winner of the Compasso d’Oro in 2020, and Coordinates. Today, the partnership enters a new phase as Flos welcomes into its universe the lighting portfolio developed and distributed by the Michael Anastassiades brand over the past twenty years, beginning with three designs. Flos will reinterpret and engineer the designs as they join the catalogue, while preserving their formal language, expressive qualities and original design vision.
“Since it began in 2011, my collaboration with Flos has become an important part of my work as a lighting designer. Today, I see it as a natural evolution that the projects I have developed under my own brand over the past twenty years should continue their journey with Flos.”

Tip of the Tongue
DESIGN MICHAEL ANASTASSIADES, 2013 - EDIZIONE FLOS, 2026
On the edge of form
An opaline glass sphere appears to roll around the base of Tip of the Tongue, creating an intriguing visual illusion. Poised as if about to fall, the sphere evokes the sensation of having a word on the tip of your tongue but being unable to retrieve it from memory.
Tip of the Tongue translates this suspended moment into form through a delicate play of balance.
Materials and finishes
Mouth-blown opaline glass diffuser with a base in galvanised metal or glazed ceramic, available in six finishes: 24K Gold, Black Nickel, Green, Red, Blue and Grey.
Relay
DESIGN MICHAEL ANASTASSIADES, 2022 - EDIZIONE FLOS, 2026
Light in balance
Reduced to a few essential elements, Relay pairs a linear light source with a solid block of stone. An invisible magnetic connection holds the two elements together, creating an unexpected sense of balance between the weight of the stone and the lightness of the illuminated tube.
The interchangeable light source allows the composition to be reconfigured, bringing together essential geometry and precious materials in a way that is characteristic of Anastassiades’ design language.
The stone serves as both support and material counterpoint to the illuminated element.
Materials and finishes
Opaline borosilicate glass light tube with LED light source and a base available in three variants: white Carrara marble, black Marquina marble and Basaltina stone.
Frame 3x3
DESIGN MICHAEL ANASTASSIADES, 2025 - EDIZIONE FLOS, 2026
A window of light
An open square grid reinterprets the window as a sculptural, luminous structure. Organised in a 3×3 configuration, Frame 3x3 recalls illuminated ceiling panels and draws inspiration from Ellsworth Kelly’s Windows series of paintings.
Slim recessed LED strips cast a warm, dimmable light along the aluminium structure, creating the illusion of light flowing across the frame. The grid becomes a suspended threshold, neither entirely solid nor wholly immaterial.
Materials and finishes
Polished chrome-plated aluminium structure with white-painted inner surfaces and recessed LED strips.
