For Milan Design Week 2026, Flos presented two new lighting collections: Nocturne by Konstantin Grcic and Maap by Erwan Bouroullec. The brand’s historic Milan spaces - the Flos Professional Space and the Flagship Store - host two original exhibition projects conceived by the designers themselves.
NOCTURNE
Nocturne and the luminous sci-fi-inspired floor by Konstantin Grcic at the Flos Professional Space
The installation at the Flos Professional Space is dedicated entirely to the new modular Nocturne system by Konstantin Grcic.
Grcic drew inspiration from Stanley Kubrick’s science fiction masterpiece 2001: A Space Odyssey for the installation, a 1968 cult film whose aesthetic, cultural and historical impact continues to resonate with designers and creatives.
The most enigmatic scene in the history of cinema is transformed into a striking installation in which a grid of luminous white panels extends through the space, revealing evanescent photographs of iconic design objects that interact with the ethereal presence of the Nocturne lamps. It becomes an original tribute to design, set within a timeless, almost surreal atmosphere.
Nocturne Collection
With a name inspired by the subtle glow of the moon, Nocturne casts both direct and indirect light to create an ethereal atmosphere. A perfect fusion of craftsmanship and low-glare technology, the lamps are made of hot-formed borosilicate glass and aluminium, and are available in floor, suspension and wall-mounted versions, with conical or semi-spherical diffusers.
MAAP
Maap and the Sound of Chaos by Erwan Bouroullec at the Flos Flagship Store
At the Milan Flagship Store, Flos presents the highly anticipated Maap wall lamp by Erwan Bouroullec.
Sound of Chaos is the title of the multimedia installation through which the French designer presents his work, making explicit the relationship between order and chaos. Conceived as an immersive environment combining sound and image, the exhibition explores the lamp and its creative process through a flow of associations and intuitions. Chaos is understood not as disorder but as a necessary condition for the emergence of form.
The video, curated by Nicolò Terraneo, extends this vision. Abstract and poetic, it evokes the creative process through a fragmented structure of references, suggestions and visual layers. Visitors are invited to reflect on the associative nature of thought and creative gesture, seen as free sequences of ideas and even errors, that, as in Maap, find expression in the act of making as an integral part of the project.
In the store, Maap is presented in high-impact configurations against a total-black background, taking centre stage both in the window display and along the internal exhibition wall that visually connects the two levels of the space.
Maap Lamp
Maap is a lamp conceived to be shaped by hand. It is composed of an ultra-light fibrous material, similar to paper, fixed by magnetic dots to a support fitted with light sources. When crumpled, this singular casing takes on organic and unpredictable forms, allowing each user complete creative freedom in shaping and configuring it. The lamp thus becomes a living surface, a mutable landscape of light.
