Splügen Bräu by Castiglioni brothers
Designed in 1961 for the project of a beer house and restaurant in the center of Milan, the lamp entered the Flos catalogue soon after, to become one of the most popular suspension lamps by the Castiglioni brothers. In 1960, Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni were commissioned the interior design of an alehouse and hot table in Milan named Splügen Bräu.
An imaginary restaurant wagon “fin de siècle”, where the high seatback, the polished brass details and iron made elements were lighted by a suspension lamp in corrugated metal, specifically designed for this project.
Ideal to give light to any table, both in residential and contract spaces, Splügen Bräu is a jump into the 60’s atmosphere. Hypnotic and sinuous, its polished aluminium surface is conceived as a vortex from which a diffuse and warm light is spread.
